Bingo Caller Bingo caller volunteers will assist with setting up for the game and calling out the numbers. They will also assist residents to and from the game. Game dates and times are scheduled by the recreational director and posted on the monthly calendar.
Caring Friends
A caring friend is a volunteer who is matched with a resident to provide companionship, helping him or her to interact in conversation and nursing home activities whenever possible.
Special Events
The special events volunteer will assist the home with ideas for fundraising. The individual will coordinate the fundraising activity with the assistance of facility staff. This volunteer will assist in solicitations of sponsorships, vendor donations, keeping records of solicitations, help with invitation mailings and manage or coordinate specific functions for the event.
Stroll Club
The stroll club volunteer will assist the recreational department in gathering residents who enjoy the outdoors and assist them in a stroll outside. Residents may need minimal assistance with walking or need to be pushed in their wheelchairs. This volunteer will also assist the resident back to their room or requested area.
Reading Group Leader
The reading group leader volunteer will read articles, newspapers, mail, poetry, novels, or the bible to the residents.
Adopt-A-Grandparent
The adopt - a - grandparent volunteer will be asked to commit to become a special friend. Will give attention at least two times a month, i.e., visit or write and show special attention on holidays and birthdays (a group may do this as well).
Spiritual Group Leader
The spiritual group leader will provide spiritual, emotional, and religious support for our residents.
Current Events Leader
The current events volunteer will read to update residents on local and world events as cited in the daily newspaper.
Beautiful You Program
The beautiful you program volunteer will give manicures to the residents (only polishing and filing their fingernails).
Night of Games Leader
The night of games leader will assist the residents in playing various games of the resident's choice in the evening hours.
Clerical
The clerical volunteers must posses good social skills and have good telephone etiquette. These duties include receiving all incoming calls and handling them in the appropriate manner. Other duties may include photo copying, filing, and data entry. Volunteers must have the ability to follow instruction and work independently.
Community Outtings
The community outings volunteer will assist the recreational department on scheduled outings out in the community such as; shopping trips, out to eat and field trips. We like to take as many residents out as possible and the duties will consist of loading and unloading the residents from the bus, assisting them with ambulation or in their wheelchair to engage in the outing.
Pet Assisted Therapy
The pet assisted therapy volunteer will bring their trained pet to the home with current vaccinations records for the residents to pet and enjoy spending time with.
Arts & Crafts Leader
The arts and crafts leaders will bring new ideas of a craft or art projects and assist the residents in completing the craft project. The facility will provide the necessary materials providing that they are within the recreational budget.
Letter Writer
The letter writing volunteer will assist the residents in writing letters who are unable to write due to physical or slight mental confusion.
Scheduled Activities
The scheduled activities volunteer can assist the recreational department with their daily activities.
Scrubber
The scrubber volunteer will assist with washing resident wheelchairs.
Music Club Leader
The music club leader will provide music therapy to the residents while having discussions and reminiscing over the big band eras, classical, country, jazz and blues music.
Snack Cart Server
The snack cart server volunteer will assist the recreational department in serving the residents in the mornings at 8:15am, snacks will include; coffee, hot chocolate, fruit, goldfish, graham crackers and juice by going to their rooms and in the public areas of the nursing home.
Concierge/Greeter
The concierge/greeter volunteer will greet visitors and family members as they enter the nursing home and direct them to the resident or area which they are inquiring. Assist new residents and families in moving into the home by carrying in their belongings and getting unpacked in their new rooms. Assist the residents in packing their belongings when they are discharged and are moving out.
Gardening Club Leader
The gardening club leader will plan gardening projects. Advise the recreational director on materials needed. Assist the residents in completing their projects.
Entertainer
The entertainer volunteer will provide entertainment to the residents such as special functions and monthly resident birthday parties.
Fitness Leader
The fitness leader will assist the resident's with exercise classes adhered to meet the needs of the resident's. This volunteer may obtain approval of the program they intend to utilize with the recreational director and administrator.
Chef's Hour
The chef's hour leader will select a recipe. Then demonstrate to the residents how to prepare the dish. Volunteer must coordinate with the recreational director to ensure ingredients are ordered. The facility will incur the cost of this activity as it meets within the recreational budget.
Discussion Group Leader
The discussion group leader will gather small groups of residents and provide conversational topics to discuss as age appropriate.
